Systemic Planning:
The difference between successful organizations and less successful ones lies on their willingness to take the time to design a road map to accomplish their mission. This road map should take into consideration the organization’s historic performance, the resources available, as well as most pressing issues likely to affect future performance. Strategic plans provide a medium term guide to top executives on the matters that must be the center of their focus over a five to seven year time period, while the operational plan provides the guide to the operational team on a year to year basis. All key stakeholders, including board members, top executives, members of the operational team, and members of the population being served need to participate in the development process. Progress on the implementation of the plans must be measured regularly by using key indicators so that adjustments can be made over time.
